Cough
Blocked or painful sinuses
Sore throat
Runny nose
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

In some cases, the test may show that you don’t have an infection. If that happens, we can recommend products to provide symptomatic relief and help ease your discomfort.
How the Test Works:
The test is a simple, compact device that delivers fast, accurate results with little to no discomfort. There are no nasal swabs or large blood samples involved – in fact, there’s no needle in sight! Our trained pharmacists will use a protected lancet to make a tiny prick on your finger, collecting a small drop of blood that the device will analyse. The entire process takes less than a minute, and results are ready within 10 minutes.

How Does FebriDxŪ Work?
The FebriDxŪ test uses a multiplex approach, combining two key biomarkers: C-reactive protein (CRP) and myxovirus resistance protein A (MxA), to deliver accurate results for detecting infections.
CRP is a protein that increases in response to inflammation, commonly elevated in both viral and bacterial infections. However, bacterial infections cause a more significant rise in CRP levels. This protein starts to increase 4 to 6 hours after the onset of an infection, with levels corresponding to the severity of the condition.
MxA, on the other hand, is a blood protein triggered by interferon (IFN) alpha and beta cells, which are activated in the presence of viral infections. MxA becomes elevated only during acute viral infections and does not increase in response to bacterial infections.
By combining these two markers, the FebriDxŪ test enhances both the sensitivity and specificity of the results. While CRP alone can indicate inflammation, it cannot reliably differentiate between bacterial and viral infections, especially at lower levels. MxA is specific to viral infections but does not respond to bacterial ones. Together, this dual-biomarker system enables FebriDxŪ to precisely identify whether the infection is viral or bacterial, optimising the accuracy of diagnosis for acute respiratory infections (ARIs).
This combination provides healthcare professionals with the ability to reliably distinguish between the two types of infections, allowing for faster and more targeted treatment.
