Treclin Gel
Overview
Treclin is a topical antibacterial gel designed for use on the skin. It includes two key active ingredients: Tretinoin, which promotes cell renewal in the outer skin layer, and Clindamycin, an antibiotic effective against specific bacteria found on the skin.
What is Treclin?
Treclin is a prescription gel formulated to treat skin issues. It contains two active components:
Tretinoin: a substance that encourages the turnover of skin cells in the epidermis
Clindamycin: an antibiotic that targets and eliminates certain types of skin bacteria
Together, these ingredients work to clear up skin imperfections and support the skin’s healing process.
What is Treclin used for?
Treclin is prescribed for the treatment of acne, a condition characterised by oily skin, blocked pores, spots, blackheads, and deeper skin infections. The gel works by eliminating the bacteria responsible for the infection, which helps reduce these symptoms. Additionally, it promotes the shedding of skin cells, clears blocked pores, and helps prevent future acne outbreaks.
How to apply Treclin
Gently apply a small, pea-sized amount of the gel to clean, dry skin using your fingertips. Be cautious to avoid contact with your eyes, nostrils, or mouth. Wash your hands thoroughly after application. Results may take time to become noticeable, so continue using Treclin even if there is some improvement in your symptoms. Your doctor will advise you on how long to continue treatment.
Recommended dosage
For adults and children aged 12 and over: apply a thin layer to the affected areas twice a day, ideally before bedtime.
This medication is not recommended for children under 12 years old.
Always read the information leaflet included with the product before starting use.
Possible side effects
While not everyone will experience side effects, some users of Treclin may notice the following reactions:
Skin irritation, such as redness, dryness, itching, burning, or flaking, at the application site
A temporary worsening of acne symptoms
If you experience diarrhoea or any other serious or long-lasting side effects, consult your doctor immediately.
When Treclin should not be used
Treclin is not appropriate for everyone and should be avoided if:
You have an allergy to tretinoin, clindamycin, lincomycin-based antibiotics, or any of the other ingredients in the formulation
You are pregnant or actively trying to become pregnant
If you have Crohn’s disease or another type of inflammatory bowel disease, it’s important to consult your doctor before using this medication. Treclin may also interact with other medicines, so ensure your doctor is aware of any medications you’re currently taking to verify they are safe to use together.
