Fexofenadine hydrochloride tablets

WHAT IS FEXOFENADINE?

Fexofenadine Hydrochloride tablets are an antihistamine medication, suitable for both adults and adolescents over the age of 12 years old.

It is used to provide relief to the symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever), such as sneezing, itchy, runny, or blocked nose, as well as watering, red, or itchy eyes.

HOW DOES FEXOFENADINE WORK?

Some individuals are prone to experiencing unpleasant physical symptoms when exposed to pollen or other seasonal allergens. This is known as hay fever, or seasonal allergic rhinitis.

These symptoms occur because of the nose lining releasing chemicals known as histamines, in response to an allergen. Histamine is released when the immune system believes it is being exposed to something harmful, causing allergic symptoms. Its release can lead to inflammation within the nasal passages and uncomfortable symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watering eyes, or a blocked or runny nose.

Fexofenadine prevents the lining of the nose from producing histamines, thereby lessening or eliminating symptoms of hay fever. It is a non-drowsy medication and can be taken daily.

Dosage:

For adults suffering from seasonal rhinitis (hay fever): 120mg daily, taken with water and prior to eating (where possible).

Do not take Fexofenadine whilst breastfeeding.

Fexofenadine should not be taken whilst pregnant unless absolutely necessary.
