Corporate flu vaccination service

Avoiding lost workdays and staying at your peak performance

The flu virus is primarily transmitted through airborne particles released when an infected person coughs or sneezes. As we all breathe the same air, this makes it an ideal medium for spreading the virus, particularly in environments where individuals work in close proximity.

Flu in the workplace

Flu is caused by a virus, making antibiotics ineffective in its treatment. Those affected by flu need to allow their body time to recuperate and combat the virus naturally. The flu virus spreads through the air via infected coughs and sneezes, and also through direct contact, such as touching surfaces like door handles where the virus may linger. This underscores the critical importance of maintaining good hand hygiene to help prevent the spread of flu in the workplace.

Why vaccinate your workforce?

Here are some key reasons to consider vaccination:

  • Minimise costs associated with employee absences
  • Enhance overall employee wellbeing
  • Reduce the risk of flu spreading in the workplace
  • Provide employees with access to vaccinations they might not easily obtain elsewhere
  • Encourage healthier choices among employees Offer convenience for both employees and employers

WHY CHOOSE Amiry & Gilbride PHARMACY?

  • We offer highly skilled pharmacists with extensive experience in vaccine administration.
  • Our pharmacists provide personalised advice to each individual, discussing the flu vaccine and any potential side effects to be aware of.
  • We bring our services directly to your location, taking care of all the arrangements.
  • Every participant will receive a detailed information leaflet for their reference.

KEY DETAILS

When to Vaccintate?

Flu vaccinations are available from October each year, with the ideal time for vaccination being between October and November. This timing is recommended because flu is more prevalent during the winter months, and getting vaccinated during this period ensures you are protected against that year’s flu strain.

Why vaccinate every year?

The flu virus mutates every year, leading to different strains. Once vaccinated, you are only protected against the specific strain included in that year’s vaccine. The Department of Health issues annual recommendations on which flu strains should be included in the vaccine. Pharmaceutical companies then produce and distribute the vaccine based on these guidelines. At Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy, we exclusively use flu vaccines recommended by the Department of Health.

Enhanced Quadrivalent Flu Vaccine

There are two main categories of flu viruses, and multiple strains can circulate simultaneously or emerge at different points during the flu season. The quadrivalent flu vaccine offers protection against four types of influenza-two strains from the A category and two from the B category. In contrast, the trivalent vaccine only covers three strains. By including an additional strain, the quadrivalent vaccine provides broader protection. Studies have shown that the quadrivalent vaccine is more effective than the trivalent version in safeguarding against more severe cases of flu.
