NHS PHARMACY FIRST
The NHS Scotland Pharmacy First service is available at all our pharmacies. This service allows patients to access advice and treatment for common complaints without the need for a GP appointment.
HOW DOES THE NHS PHARMACY FIRST SERVICE WORK?
NHS Scotland has set up this service to provide on-the-spot clinical advice, treatment, and referrals to other services.
A member of the healthcare team will make a note of your symptoms and details and give you the help you need. This service is available from all Amiry & Gilbride pharmacies.
Our consultation rooms are available if you’d prefer to speak to a pharmacist privately.
The NHS Pharmacy First service treats a wide range of common complaints, including:
- Acne and eczema
- Food allergies
- Athlete’s foot
- Cold sores
- Constipation
- Cough
- Cystitis and thrush
- Diarrhoea
- Earache
- Piles (haemorrhoids)
- Hay fever
- Headache
- Head lice
- Indigestion
- Mouth ulcers
- Period pain
- General pain
- Sore throat
- Warts and verrucas
WHO IS THE NHS PHARMACY FIRST SERVICE FOR?
Any Scottish resident, or anyone registered with a Scottish GP, can use the NHS Pharmacy First service.
To use this service, we’ll ask you:
- Your name
- Your date of birth
- Your postcode
- Your symptoms

HOW CAN I ACCESS THE SERVICE?
You don’t need to book an appointment. However, if you’re experiencing COVID-related symptoms or fever, please call and speak to a Pharmacy team member before making an in-person visit.
